If hair is dead then why will the hair on your arm know when to stop growing to match the length of

Shave the hair on your head and it will grow to be two feet long. Shave the hair on your arm and somehow the hair knows when to stop growing to match the length of the sorounding hairs. The hair is dead the folical is alive yet the hair seems to comunicate that "everthing looks good from up here" and tells the folical to stop growing. Otherwise how does the folical know it's hair has been shaven and know when to start growing again?

If hair is dead then why will the hair on your arm know when to stop growing to match the length of the others

it's called genetics, baby. it's all in the genes.

If hair is dead then why will the hair on your arm know when to stop growing to match the length of the others

Genetic coding tells your cells what to do and where to go and all that.

If hair is dead then why will the hair on your arm know when to stop growing to match the length of the others

Ure an amazing guy yaaa - how the hell can you waste your time, yahoo time and jobless people answer you.Just let it grow man - who cares - shave t off later

If hair is dead then why will the hair on your arm know when to stop growing to match the length of the others

That's because the arms, legs and pubic hair is genetically programed to stop at a certain length and not exceed it. Another peculiar thing is that the hair in these regions is the last to go white and it never goes bald.

If hair is dead then why will the hair on your arm know when to stop growing to match the length of the others

It simply falls out after a certain length of time, sufficient for it to have grown to a certain length.

I think.

If hair is dead then why will the hair on your arm know when to stop growing to match the length of the others

Why do fingers stop growing when they reach a certain length...Why do our arms grow at the same pace and stop when they both reach a certain length...Why do we sweat when we are hot and shiver when we are cold...

It's all 'coded' into the makeup of our body. Things just happen certain ways and there is no easy answer to your question.

If hair is dead then why will the hair on your arm know when to stop growing to match the length of the others

Good question! and good logic! Somehow I think the mechanism that grows the hair on different parts of our bodies is within the cell structure of the folicle. This would include such factors as proteins and other organic substances that our bodies require to function properly being delivered or made on site by whatever cell is chemically programmed to do the particular job. The length and type of hair is all part of the program that these particular cells deliver and of course brain function must have something to do with it as well. Or is the function simply related to the peripheral nervous system? And in that case maybe the hair itself IS sensing it's surroundings and knows by FEEL, how long, when and where. Now being completely off topic, it never ceases to amaze me how our body hair has so much to do with who we are!

If hair is dead then why will the hair on your arm know when to stop growing to match the length of the others

It just does.

If hair is dead then why will the hair on your arm know when to stop growing to match the length of the others

well maybe they have a computer each, and they all have chat rooms.

weird ques dude

If hair is dead then why will the hair on your arm know when to stop growing to match the length of the others

If hair is dead then why will the hair on your arm know when to stop growing to match the length of the others

Wow... try talking to them... ask them why they grow like that...
